SURLA is a student organization at The University of Western Ontario dedicated at promoting the Latin American identity and vision of the world, through advocacy, education and social justice. Our organization has brought together students from Latin America and students with an interest in Latin America alike, in order to strengthen our capacity to tackle the challenges facing Latin America. It is our prerogative to: 
  • Enhance critical thinking amongst Latin American students and the general public on the challenges facing Latin America
  • Encourage dialogue to promote pluralism and integrity of all social groups in Latin America
  • Strengthen our capacity to engage in the development of the region
  • Promote and defend our identity and right to self-determination
  • Uphold an alternative view of the world, from a Latin American perspective
